New and future directions

New and future directions…

  • Hybrid RANS/LES…we have developed a new dynamic PANS model and tested it for fully-developed turbulent channel flow.  We are looking to build on this work and consider other approaches to enable high Reynolds LES…
  • Lattice Boltzmann method for high Reynolds flows…we are interested in further developing our in-house LBM code, by either modifying the LBM method itself or inclusion of new SGS models, and applying it to high Reynolds aerodynamic problems possibly with moving boundaries.
  • Hybrid high-order body-fitted unstructured and structured grid flux-reconstruction/finite-volume methods for compressible flows.  We have developed a new solver in Python (sped-up with Cython) with lot’s of cool features…stay tuned!
  • Machine learning for CFD…we have begun to explore the exciting new world of machine learning and how it might be used to benefit CFD…
